The Top Tech Awards honor outstanding information technology executives, as nominated by their peers and clients. Nominees and honorees who meet the specified criteria, as determined by an independent panel of judges, are recognized at the Top Tech Awards each year.

The Top Tech Awards began in San Diego, CA in 2008. The brainchild of Cox Business VP, Larry Coval, it was launched to honor and acknowledge the work of the oft unsung heroes of business – the I.T. Leaders. While it started as comparatively small event, within three years it grew to be one of the best attended corporate award events in the region.

2011 saw the expansion of the Top Tech Awards to Las Vegas, where it has taken hold and is a favorite event for Las Vegas’ burgeoning tech sector.

To date, more than 2000 Tech Leaders have been honored, and over 20,000 people have attended the events. In both cities a Top Tech Award is regarded as mark of superlative creativity, planning, and execution in Technology.

Nomination

Q. WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR THE NOMINATION PROCESS?

A.  It takes approximately 30 min to one hour to thoroughly complete a nomination form.

Q. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE NOMINATED?

A. All nominees must be an information technology executive whose primary function is to carry the ultimate responsibility for their organization’s information technology. Examples include Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, or Director of Technology. In smaller companies, however, the function is likely more important than the title. This award is specifically targeting those behind-the-scenes “unsung heroes” who make it possible for their business to do business. Consultants, vendors, and system integrators are not eligible, unless the work for which they are being nominated was solely for their own company.

Q. WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE NOMINATED?

A. Technology executives at presenting and media sponsor companies are not eligible to be nominated. Other sponsor levels are allowed to have nominees from their company. Sponsors are not eligible to judge. Nominees who reside at the same company as a judge are eligible to be nominated – judges must abstain from scoring those nominees. Technology executives must live within the respective regions as advertised.

Q. HOW ARE FINALISTS SELECTED?

A. Finalists are actually the Qualified Nominees. Selection as a qualified nominee means that the nominee has met the criteria set by our judges of being an information technology leader, and specifically a person who has enhanced the organization’s IT Department and accelerates business through astounding uses of technology. Nominees are notified if they qualified or not.

Q. WHAT DOES THIS AWARD PROGRAM ENTAIL FOR THE QUALIFIED NOMINEES?

A. All qualified nominees receive recognition in local media news publications and are announced on the evening of the Top Tech Awards. All nominees receive two free tickets to the event- for them and a guest to attend. All honorees receive the above-mentioned, along with an award.
